Savage Engineering Inc. was established in 1989 by the company's President, Carl M. Savage, Jr.  Mr. Savage is the primary Safety Engineering Consultant, and has been retained as an expert in more than a thousand cases during his career.  His knowledge, experience and quality of work have earned him a reputation as an accomplished expert in vehicle safety and accident reconstruction.

Mr. Savage acquired a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1968.  He then joined General Motors Corporation as a Test Engineer at the Safety Research and Development Laboratory in Milford, Michigan.  Over the subsequent twenty years, he gained considerable expertise in the development and testing of active and passive restraint systems.  He has been awarded three patents on airbag systems that he developed while working at GM.

During his second decade at GM, Mr. Savage was promoted from a Staff Analysis Engineer to a Senior Staff Analysis Engineer at the GM Technical Center, in Warren, Michigan.
